Although the views and the landscapes were beautiful, it was not much different than previous couple of days, so I found the day wonderful in that allowed me to stay in my head most of the day. By that I mean in a reflective mood and really a very happy mood, grateful about the great life I am able to live and the wonderful people in my life.
The first 12KM were mostly climbing and the second 13 KM were more on level ground with minor changes in elevation. Tomorrow will be a very tough distance of 31 KM, main reason was accommodation availability (was hoping to stay in Ribadiso but now have to stay in Arzua, 3 more Ks. Good news is the last two days will be roughly only 18-20Km each, much much easier days. Let’s hope I have enough gas in the tank as the last 66KM unfold.
I have not usually explained my food pictures. Today I had as a snack in the middle of the afternoon a coffee with similar crepes to a French crepes with fresh honey, never tried that before. It was very tasty and gave a surge of energy I badly needed with 8 KM to go or so.
Galicia is famous for their Octopus dishes (Pulpo). Until now I have avoided it but tonight my room is in a pension/restaurant/Pulperia (you guessed it, octopus restaurant) so I gave it a try. It was better than I expected, however, not likely to try again. The dessert on the other hand brought me back to my childhood in Argentina as it was common for us to have Membrillo y Queso for dessert. Membrillo is made from a fruit, in English it is called Quince, a very hard pear like fruit. The cheese they use is different however fantastic.
The raspberry and milk treat I had mid morning with a banana and it gave some good energy when I was slowing down.
