Day 16 - Burgos to Hontanas

Happy Mother’s Day. Today was my first day walking into the huge “Meseta”, a relatively high 800-1000 meters plateau. Very few trees, mostly wheat barley and oat fields to start with. I will be walking through it for next 2-3 days. The weather was fantastic for this kind of walk today, 22C dry and sunny. I can’t imagine doing this trek in July or August when temps rise above the mid 30’s. Walked alone all day. Had a chance to record a bit of history and it was a great day for self reflection.

Today was 23KM, tomorrow around 28-30, so an early night! The medieval little village I am in is as time has stood still for a few hundred years.
