Today was a push, 26.5 KM, through some beautiful forests which now start to include eucalyptus trees, the smell was wonderful. Tomorrow I should be going through forests much denser with eucalyptus trees, so I am sure the fragrance will be much stronger.
It was a day of running into a couple of people I have known since almost the beginning of the trip, so always nice to catch with them.
Two more walking days and that reality started to sink in today, some emotional moments in the forest, a combination of satisfaction and pride in that I getting this completed, no small feat, largest undertaking I have ever taken on physically, mentally and emotionally. Also a bit of sadness that this will end. It was basically a “being in the now” almost all the time, in contrast with “being in the now” a more rare state in day to day life. I know that this is one of the major intents as I go home, to be in the now as much as possible. A much more complex topic than how I am describing it here.
In the photos you will see some strange structures. Homes have them as storage for grains they want to keep dry as the get lots of rain here and sometimes floods. Also you notice bigger crowds in the trail. That started in Sarria a couple of days ago. Bigger groups snd just many more pilgrims.
40KM to go, I should be in Santiago by 2 PM my time on Monday.
Tonight I will be watching the huge soccer match being played in Paris between Liverpool and Real Madrid for the European Teams title. They will be going crazy here if Real Madrid wins or very grumpy tomorrow night if they loose.
