Today I had a choice of the official Camino route at 19Km or an alternate route through the town of Samos where a famous Benedictine Monastery is located, a longer route at 26Km. Unfortunately I was not able to catch the guided tour but it was still with it to see the whole setting of the huge building surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery.
Had the chance to walk again with my friends LJ and Carole, we met on day 1 if the walk and had a chance to walk together a few days along the way. They are staying an extra day in Sarria do it will be the last time I will like be able to see them. They live in the finger lake region of NY state, so not far do I am sure I will see them back home, great people.
The walk was mostly through the forest and some Galician small villages. Tomorrow I head to Portomarin, A short 23Km day:) with some up and down mountainous walking so it will have its challenges. The rain stayed away today, let’s hope tomorrow as well. Five more days of walking to cover the remaining 114Km. One of the things to look forward to is walking through eucalyptus tree forests.
